HELLO TEXAS NURSES!

Across Texas and the nation, nurses are navigating rapid technological change, workforce strain, ethical complexity, and evolving models of care — all while remaining the most trusted professionals in health care (for 24 years!). In moments like this, progress does not come from retreat or fragmentation. It comes from unity, shared learning, and a strong, collective voice.

The theme of this year’s Texas Nurses Association conference, Strength in Unity, Excellence in Action, reflects what nursing needs most right now. Unity is not simply about gathering; it is about aligning around shared values, elevating and understanding diverse perspectives, and recognizing that our influence is greatest when we move forward together. Excellence, in turn, is not static. It requires continuous learning, adaptability, and the courage to lead change.

The conference’s focus on cutting-edge topics such as artificial intelligence, telehealth integration, and simulation-based learning acknowledges a reality nurses are already living. Technology is reshaping care delivery, but it is nursing judgment, ethics, and human connection that determine whether these tools truly improve outcomes. By engaging with innovation through a nursing lens, we ensure that progress remains patient-centered, safe, and equitable.

Strength in unity and excellence in action are not aspirations for the future — they are imperatives for nursing today.

Equally critical are the conversations around ethical practice, leadership pathways, and sustainable workforce strategies. Nurses are increasingly called upon to make complex decisions, influence policy, and lead teams in environments under pressure. Developing these competencies is no longer optional — it is essential to protecting both our profession and the patients we serve.

The conference also elevates the importance of advocacy, mentoring, and interprofessional collaboration. Nursing has always been a force for transformation, but our impact depends on our willingness to speak with clarity and conviction. When nurses advocate together — in health systems, communities, and legislative spaces — we shape policies that support safe practice, access to care, and the future of the workforce.

At every career stage, nurses bring insight, expertise, and lived experience that health care cannot afford to ignore. This moment calls for connection, continued education, and renewed commitment to the power of the nursing voice. Strength in unity and excellence in action are not aspirations for the future — they are imperatives for nursing today.

I look forward to seeing you in Grapevine, Texas this June! TN
